ROOTED (PreK4-8th grade):
Rooted, for children in Grades K-8, is a parish and parent cooperative program that will meet monthly (virtually via Zoom) for the 2020-21 year. Each month, parents pick up their family’s packet of materials to be used over the following 4 weeks. Parents attend monthly Zoom sessions that will introduce each month’s topic and run through the packet of materials. Families will also attend monthly small-group Zoom sessions with a few other families, 2 weeks after each packet pick-up date (dates and times to be determined by each small group). Students in Grades 6-8 will receive their monthly content at Zoom sessions the Mondays following the parent Zoom sessions.
St. John Paul II emphasized that the family is the domestic church, stressing the role of parents in preparing their children for a life of discipleship. As the Catechism of the Catholic Church states, "'The role of parents in education is of such importance that it is almost impossible to provide an adequate substitute.' The right and the duty of parents to educate their children are primordial and inalienable." (CCC 2221) It is our goal at ROOTED to equip parents as the primary catechists to their children, giving them the support and resources they need to be successful.

All students desiring to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation, First Holy Eucharist, or Confirmation must enroll in Faith Formation for the year prior to the sacramental year as well as the sacramental year itself. During the sacramental year, students must also enroll in one of our Sacramental Preparation Programs. Sacramental Preparation is separate from regular Faith Formation, in accordance with the policies of the Archdiocese of Baltimore. Information on our Sacramental Preparation Programs will be advertised in our Parish bulletin, Parish email, and to families enrolled in Rooted.
