Food Drive for South America
Operation Mato Grosso is a group of young people who meet in their free time to carry out work projects to support missions in 110 different communities across Brazil, Bolivia, Ecuador, and Peru. Their goal is to provide an opportunity for people of the local communities to remain in their villages to earn an income and improve their lives. Food items will be collected at our churches in support of these efforts.
Please place your donations in the bins located in the breezeway at St. William of York and the vestibule at St. Agnes. We are collecting the following items during the remainder of the Lenten season. The six staple food items that will be collected:
PASTA RICE SUGAR FLOUR COOKING OIL CANNED FOOD (veggies)
Food will be used in Mato Grosso programs – in schools, where they provide free meals to students, in soup kitchens where they feed elderly people or people who are not able to provide for themselves, to patients in their hospitals and clinics, and more. For more information, contact Brady at 443-834-6680 or Dominic at 443-422-4845. Last year, they were not able to ship any containers because of the pandemic. Food was donated to local Food Pantries. This year, they hope to double the amount collected and shipped.
