 St. Agnes of Rome
Feast Day - January 21st
Saint Agnes of Rome lived in the 3rd century. Becoming a Christian when Christians were often persecuted, making a promise to dedicate her life to Jesus, and refusing to marry because she wanted to stay pure for Christ, resulted in her arrest when a powerful Roman wanted to marry her. She was told to worship false gods or face death, so at only around 12-13 years old, she was martyred by the sword. Her courage as virgin martyr has greatly inspiration the Universal Church. St. Agnes is our parish patron. She is also the patron saint of young girls, gardeners, engaged couples and all those seeking purity. She is often depicted with a lamb to represent her innocence and purity, which is also reflected in her name. The Latin word for lamb is "agnus."
This year, since the Feast Day of St. Agnes falls on a Wednesday. We plan to celebrate as a parish family with an Italian themed Encounter & Glory Dinner, in the Activity Center, at 6:00pm, on January 21, 2026. Bring dessert (Italian desserts encouraged) or salad to share. Join us after dinner, in St. Agnes Church for a special St. Agnes Feast Day Holy Hour featuring a reflection by Scott Oesterle, as well as praise and worship music.
If you are available to help, in any way, please contact our Pastoral Associate for Evangelization & Faith Formation, Meghan Fleming, at Meghan.Fleming@archbalt.org.

St. Agnes Church follows the Baltimore County School Closings and Delays.
-
During the school week, if Baltimore County Schools are delayed: Mass will be celebrated according to schedule, and all parish activities will be held.
-
If Baltimore County Schools are closed: Mass is canceled, all parish activities are canceled, including Wednesday Adoration. The Office will be closed.
-
If Baltimore County Schools close early: all parish activities are canceled, including Wednesday Adoration. The Office will be closed.
-
On Saturdays: if we are in the midst of a winter weather event, Saturday morning Holy Hour, Mass and Parish activities will be canceled.
-
Determinations about Saturday evening and Sunday Masses are made by the Archbishop of Baltimore. While the obligation to attend Mass on Sunday is serious, the obligation is lifted because of dangerous weather conditions. One should not put oneself in harm's way to attend Mass.

CAN WE PRAY FOR YOU?
Know that we are here for you! If you or a family member is sick and in need of prayers, please call the parish office. Let us know if we can also add their name to the bulletin prayer list so your whole parish family can hold them in prayer.

Prayer for Pope Leo XIV
O God, who in Your providential design willed that Your Church be built upon blessed Peter, whom You set over the other Apostles, look with favor, we pray, on our Holy Father, Pope Leo XIV and grant that he, whom You have made Peter’s successor, may be for Your people a visible source and foundation of unity in faith and of communion.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen
Pope Leo XIV's Monthly Intention
